After hearing from Mr Butcher and viewing the films Stewards were satisfied FORGIVENESS (B Butt) had commenced his shift outwards prior to WALKINONSUNSHINE reaching his sulky wheel and that Mr Butcher had elected to take his runner forward and had raced wide thereafter. Weakened passing the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

When questioned Driver T Mitchell stated that the entire had felt uneven in its gait in the middle stages of the score up so he had been reluctant to place this runner under pressure and had then been unable to fill its position when the mobile accelerated prior to dispatch. A warning was placed on the horse's barrier manners.

Driver A Butt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on one occasion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Butt's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 19 October up to and including 21 October 2024 (2 days).
